MY BIRTHDAY

"Success is all about patterns. You can’t be good once in a while. You can’t love your spouse once in a while. You can’t stop smoking once in a while. If you want massive changes in your life, you have to do it all the time." - God whisphered

I’ve just turned 38.

Happy birthday to me!

I’ve celebrated my day with my wife and kids just inside our house recuperating from my Achilles tendon injury. It’s one birthday I surely won’t forget. For the longest time I could remember, this is one birthday where I did not get to drink any alcohol. (Yep, no beers for me this year.)

38 years is a long time, a blessing.

Considering about a month ago I’ve attended the funeral of my friend’s brother who passed away at the young age of 25. Just 5 days before his birthday.

Cause of death was said to be heart failure.

As I sit here contemplating what good have I done for myself and love ones for the past 38 years of my life, I could not go on not thinking about the mistakes I’ve done or the bad habits I’ve created and continue to do, such as negative thinking (yep, I sometimes fall into these), my being resentful and unforgiving from some of the people who hurt me, and many others. I admit there are a few “stuffs” I’ve done in my life that I may say I am not proud of.

So, I told myself, why not give myself a gift.

You see, most people, during their birthdays expects gifts from the people they love.

Am I right?

Okay, there are a few who turn tables on their special occasions and give gifts to others instead.

However, have you ever thought about giving a gift to yourself? I’m not talking about any material things like a new celfone, a new car, or maybe even a new house. Im talking about something greater than that.

Like being a better person.

In all areas of your life.

I firmly believe that if you really want to be happy in life, change must happen.

Change your course

Let me share you a story.

Their was this big ship who received a distress signal coming from bright light a few hundred miles in front of her.

The signal says, “DANGER AHEAD, PLEASE CHANGE YOUR COURSE 10 DEGREES EAST”.

The big ship then replied, “CAN NOT CHANGE COURSE, .. YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE, 10 DEGREES WEST".

Then a reply… “FINAL WARNING…CHANGE YOUR COURSE IMMEDIATELY!”

The big ship replied, “THIS IS THE CAPTAIN OF THIS NAVY BATTLESHIP, YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE!”

The bright light replIied, “I AM A SEAMAN SECOND CLASS, AND THIS IS A LIGHTHOUSE,  IT’S YOUR CHOICE.”

There times in your life when you know that things are not going your way.

Times when your are financially down, your health is deteriorating, your relationships are going sour.

I believe that these are distress signals that life is sending you. Asking you, Begging you that you are on a collision course for disaster.

But sometimes you are just too stubborn.

You don’t want to change.

You don't want to change your diet even if your cholesterol or sugar level is already up.

You don’t want to spend time with your love ones because you have to do more important things like work, that is why when you go home your kids rarely talks to you anymore.

You don’t want to invest or learn new ways of making money even though your debt is now piling up.

Friends, it’s time to change course.

Find time to be a better person.

Act your age

Do you have what it takes to succeed in your life?

If you want success, you need to create patterns of success. Habits. Rituals. Second-nature, repeated behavior.

In other words you have to learn how to grow up every year.

I just did.
