Protect yourself

Pride afflicts many people. A disagreement that can easily be resolved by a humble and heartfelt admission of fault turns into an ugly conflict because people value their pride more than peace. Be a person of humility and peace, and you will experience the blessings of being a child of Mine. – prince of peace , GOD

Many relationships have been destroyed by this thing called pride. The truth is, this is one of the secret weapons of the devil himself. It is one of the top four most dangerous, toxic power that the devil uses to bring mankind away from God. The other three are greed, lust and self-rejection.

They said pride is tasteless, shapeless, colorless, odorless, but it is one of the hardest thing to swallow. I say, well if it is hard to swallow then turn pride into a chicken meal like KFC did, then turn it into Kentucky Pride Chicken. Delicious!

But seriously, believe me, I too fell victim to this kind of attitude. And honestly, I still sometimes experience this poison inside of me.  I am not ashamed to admit it. I'm speaking to you now not as the perfect, 100% good and angelic person. I am speaking to you now as a normal human being, a sinner just like everybody else.

The battle is in the inside

I turn to God.  I asked God for Him to take away my pride.  Guess what? God replied. He said, “Son, it is not up to me to take it away, it is for you to give it up.”  The battle between good and evil is not on the outside, it is inside ourselves. Our core being.

Let me share with you something I have learned from our religious community called The Feast today. There is an old fiction story about the city of Troy. This city is heavily guarded and  the gates are very secured. For many years, the Greeks tried so hard in invading it but to no avail. They were heaving problems in attacking the city because of its giant walls. For ten years or so they tried so hard without success, until one day, the people of Troy called the Trojans saw that the enemy battleships started to leave. The Trojans then celebrated , thinking that they have won the war.

Then they saw something the Greeks have built and left behind. It is  a huge, giant statue of a horse. This statue which was later on known as the Trojan horse, was brought inside the city. The Trojans thought of keeping it as a symbol of victory, like a trophy.

Little did they know that inside the wooden horse were greek soldiers hiding, waiting for nightfall. And they also didn’t know that the Greeks on the ships only pretended to leave, they actually made a u-turn and came back to Troy. So when the Trojans slept that night, one by one the greeks piled out of the statue and opened  the gates of Troy for their fellow Greeks to come in. In short, Troy was conquered.

This story represents ourselves. The city of Troy is our inner  feeling.  The giant walls are like God’s love  protecting us, guarding us from evil.  The problem is that we have let in a “Trojan horse” within our body, our soul, our life and have evil soldiers open the gates for pride to come in.

Friends, many times we look at our problems from outside ourselves, we try to change things that most of the time have no control of. But in fact the battle is within us. We allowed evil to come in.

Protect yourself. Defend yourself.  Love yourself. Strenghten your walls with God's love be humble to admit your mistakes.

God said, if you humble yourself before Me, I will exult you at the proper time.

Aim high, live life, love God
